MISSION STATEMENT: “The JEFFERSON COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY is committed to building and maintaining affordable housing for the citizens in our community. We seek to create safe neighborhoods by partnering with individuals and organizations to provide housing, education and employment opportunities for families of modest means to become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life. We shall serve our clients and all citizens with the highest level of professionalism, compassion and respect.”
The JEFFERSON COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY was created in 1968 by the Jefferson County Commissioners in order to help the citizens of the county find affordable housing. The Housing Authority provides assistance to nearly 600 families or individuals through the programs we administer. The cost of housing is a major concern and expense for everyone. JCHA helps residents become more self-sufficient by reducing the financial burden that housing costs represent. As a result, financial assets can be used to improve other aspects of the resident’s lives, such as education, training, career enhancement and overall standard of living. The Jefferson County Housing Authority does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, familial status, age, religion or disability. This institution is an equal opportunity housing provider and employer.
